Company Overview

Martin Consulting is a Limited Liability Company registered in the state of West Virginia which is designed to provide professional consulting and educational services to organizations committed to improving their overall level of health and safety.

The principals previously held several key management positions in general industry, mining and government. Under their leadership and expertise, they provided the necessary direction and assistance to senior management in building world-class health and safety programs. In one example Mr. Martin’s guidance assisted in building a safety system that allowed a large mining organization to achieve the lowest intermediate safety rate in the nation as ranked by the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration. In another example, one organization received over 32 safety performance awards within one year.

With more than 37 years’ experience as a health and safety professional, Tim A. Martin obtained numerous safety and health certifications. He has presented professional papers on the subjects of ergonomics, accident prevention, behavior based safety, workplace violence, environmental controls and emergency preparedness in various locations across the nation. He has received recognition for his contributions in health and safety from the director of NIOSH, and both Assistant Secretaries of Labor for OSHA and MSHA. Mr. Martin has designed world-class health and safety educational programs that have been ranked as some of the nation’s best programs by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Mr. Martin managed the safety and health aspects of an eight-month environmental recovery operation that included more than one million gallons of Sodium Hydroxide in confined spaces, which resulted in no injuries. Mr. Martin was also involved in the rescue and recovery work at the 2006 Sago Mine Explosion and the 2010 UBB Mine Explosion in West Virginia.

Mr. Martin has a strong background in working with industry and government in the development of new safety and health regulations. Through his involvement in the legislative and rule making processes, he has assured the fair application of common sense rules that work in the best interests of both management and labor.
